Know the ABC of The Project Management Professional
The Project Management Professional [PMP] is one of the important industry-recognized certification meant for project managers. The PMP Certification could be obtained by the Project Management Institute [PMI] and is valid throughout the world.
Going through the PMP examination appears to be costly, complicated, and demands a lot of preparation. But, the effort towards acquiring the certification is worth at the end.

We find several organizations work on a project focused way and as a result, the scope for project management is increasing and becoming the career choice for aspiring individuals. The entry-level positions include Project Assistant or the Assistant Project Manager and involves working on projects. Then, gaining more experience and knowledge equips oneself to handle complex projects, programmes, and the portfolio management.

As a Team player, the candidate is exposed to and learn work as per milestones, deadlines, assess risk, deal with and mitigate it, report the progress, and, so forth. However, this will be an easy transition for the right person with adequate training and support.
Some of the early career roles of a project management career include Project assistant, Project Coordinator, and Project Management Support.
In case, a candidate has the degree or professional qualification for project management, then there is every chance that one may directly move into a supporting role as the Assistant Project Manager.
Further, if it is in a larger organization, the role may simply mean to attend smaller or fewer complex projects yet a challenging one. In this case, the position does not matter, but the learnings matter a lot in the growth curve.
There is every chance that many times the designation may not define as the project manager, but the role is so. An array of job titles includes Project Manager, Implementation Manager, or the Project Leader.
The PMP Certification is recognized at the global level without any geographical or the domain constraints.
The Project Management Institute is an International accrediting organization and forms the resource for project managers.

An adequate amount of experience is required to take the PMP exam. [i.e., 36/60 months or 4500/7500 hours of directing project experience without/with associated degree respectively.

The PMP exam will change from March 2018. As a result, the exam content will be in consistency with the recently released PMBOK® [September 2017 edition].
